Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) is an annual international Olympiad competition organized by Olympiad Education from Hong Kong and is developed by former Hong Kong Mathematical Olympiad Team Leader, Mr Wong Tin Chun. HKIMO aims to create a platform for ALL math enthusiasts around the world to come together for an educational and cultural exchange. The objectives of HKIMO is to foster students’ interest in Mathematical Olympiad and to promote Mathematical Olympiad all over the world. This year, HKIMO committee members invited 21 regions / countries such as Indonesia, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines, India, Australia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, China, Iran, Sri Lanka, Laos and Dhaka Bangladesh to participate.

This international competition is open to all Year/Standard 1 to A-Levels/STPM Malaysian students.

It is primarily open to students who have received High Distinction, Distinction and High Credit in Depth Of Knowledge Assessment (DOKA). It is also open to Malaysian students who have received Gold / Silver Awards in other Maths Competitions under SMO Education Group in 2019.

*A-Levels/ STPM Malaysian students who have participated in other maths competitions in 2018/2019 with High Distinction / Gold Award / Distinction / Silver Award can directly register to enter HKIMO. Students need to submit a copy of their Certificate together with their registration form.

Gold Award Winners scored 120 or above Certificate & Medal
Silver Award Winners scored 90 or above Certificate & Medal
Bronze Award Winners scored 60 or above Certificate & Medal
Merit Award Winners scored 30 or above Certificate
 *If the same score case happened, HKIMO will consider winner’s Date of Birth. The younger winner will be ranked higher.


All HKIMO or TIMO Final Gold Award Winners are invited to attend the World International Mathematical Olympiad (WIMO), fully sponsored by WIMO Foundation, in Tokyo, Japan from 28 & 29 Dec 2019. After the WIMO Competition, ALL participants will get the opportunity to attend training sessions and learn from IMO Trainers.


Invitation will be sent to school once DOKA Results has been announced.
