Singapore International Arts Tournament (SIAT) is organized by the Singapore International Children’s Media (SICM) under the auspices of the Soong Chin Ling Foundation (Singapore), co-organized by SIMCC, together with Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, Federation of Arts Society Singapore (FASS) and Shanghai Songjiang Artists’ Association, an international youth art competition that will bring together more than 100 international institutions and 200 leading artists from over 40 countries around the world.

Youโ€™ve probably heard of the acronym STEM. STEM was introduced in 2001 as a way to refer to careers and/or curriculum centered around Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) — the most rapidly growing industries in the Global economy. Then as many companies continued to ramp up technological innovation, in order to remain competitive across the globe, the movement around integrating STEM into educational frameworks began to gain a lot of traction.

Fast forward several years, after STEM had become a buzzword in the world of education, and a new, very similar term emerged — STEAM. The โ€œAโ€ in steam refers to arts. And this addition plays a critical role in how we need to be preparing our youth for the future. It makes kids more well-rounded and opens them up to a vast number of new opportunities.

The idea is to teach kids that they donโ€™t have to be only analytical or only creative — they can be both. To be successful both now and down the road, one must be both an analytical thinker and a creative thinker.

SIAT 1st Round is open to all students residing in Malaysia: Grade 1 to 13 (Std 1 to A-Levels/STPM). There is no pre-requisite to enter this Competition. All students are welcomed to join.
