This competition is open to ALL Grade 6 to 8 (Primary 6 to Secondary 2) students who are residing in Malaysia. There is no pre-requisite to enter this competition. All students are welcomed to join.

How to Register?

Step 1: Make payment via Billplz
*You will receive an Instant Receipt via Email with the FPX Reference No. (eg. FPX – 1234F1CDB23E).
You may pay for more than 1 child/ student at once by increasing the quantity. Just put in the same FPX Reference No. during registration.

Step 2: After payment, you will be re-directed to the Registration Form automatically. Fill up the Form. Don’t miss this step! 🙂

For over 60 years many excellent exams have been prepared by individuals throughout our mathematical community in the hope that all secondary students will have an opportunity to participate in these problem solving and enriching mathematics experiences. The MAA’s American Mathematics Contests (MAA-AMC) are designed to engage students and teachers in effective mathematical problem solving that is consistent with curricular goals, and to prepare students for future mathematical success.

In United States of America, MAA-AMC is highly recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and especially valuable for applying into Universities. The MAA-AMC program positively impacts the analytical skills needed for future careers in an innovative society. MAA-AMC are a series of examinations and curriculum materials that build problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge in secondary school students from Year 7 to A-Levels (or Form 1 to Form 6). In Malaysia,

• MAA-AMC 8 (recommended for Grade 6-8 students)
  Eligibility:
  Students must be in grade 8 or below and also under 14.5 years of age on the day of the competition.
• MAA-AMC 10B/12B (recommended for Year 8 to A-Levels students)
  Eligibility:
  MAA-AMC 10: Students must be in grade 10 or below and also under 17.5 years of age on the day of the competition.
  MAA-AMC 12: Students must be in grade 12 or below and also under 19.5 years of age on the day of the competition.
• American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) for high scoring MAA-AMC 10/12 participants
• MAA-AMC 10/12 Students will be registered for Paper B.
  Participants may request to sit for 10A / 12A by writing to info@smo-testing.com and get 2 chances to qualify for AIME.

Perfect Scores recognizes students with a perfect score of 150.

Honor Roll of Distinction certificate is awarded to the Top 1% of all MAA-AMC 10 Candidates.

Distinction certificate is awarded to the Top 5% in MAA-AMC 10 candidates.

AIME Qualifier is awarded to students who qualified for the AIME based on the cutoff scores set by the MAA-AMC Program.

Certificate of Achievement is awarded to students in 8th grade (Secondary 2) and below who scored 90 or above on the MAA-AMC 10.

Others will receive a e-Certificate of Participation.

(MAA-AMC 12B)

AIME-1 Qualifier

American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME)
The American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) is a challenging competition offered for those who excelled on the AMC 10 and/or AMC 12. The AIME is a 15 question, 3-hour examination, each answer is an integer number between 0 to 999. The questions on the AIME are much more difficult than those on the AMC 10 and AMC 12.

🔹Most Ivy league schools request for the AIME scores.
🔹For most schools, AIME has an edge for application for scholarship
🔹S.E.A AIME awards are also awarded to students that achieve for Top 10 in MAA-AMC 10 and Top 10 in MAA-AMC 12

Scoring
1 mark will be award for each correct response. Total 15 marks
